Celebrating over a decade of dedication

Kevin at our arrivals unit with rescue donkey Goldfinch

For more than a decade, volunteer Kevin Michael has been making a difference at The Donkey Sanctuary. He joined our team back in 2006, starting out by grooming elderly donkeys at Hannigan’s farm. Since then, Kevin has helped with just about every job on the farm – from weighing and clipping donkeys to dung sampling!

A few years ago, Kevin joined the New Arrivals Unit. This can be quite challenging as some donkeys are not used to being handled, or might need medical care, but Kevin carries out every task with a smile on his face.

Kevin often says that volunteering with donkeys is not just therapeutic for the donkeys, but for him as well. His commitment to animal welfare even won him an award in 2016 when he was named Volunteer of the Year.

Providing a warm home and specialist care to so many donkeys takes a lot of work and we’re so grateful to Kevin for his ongoing dedication.

Thank you for all your support and hard work, Kevin!

All of our supporters are making it possible for us to keep more donkeys warm this winter. From fundraising to volunteering, your tireless efforts help to improve the lives of donkeys in Ireland. You can find out more about ways to support us here
