Forever home for Caroline and Rinceoir
A weak, underweight donkey struggling to survive in a wet bog has started a new life thanks to your generous support.
In December 2023, Caroline was living on a boggy area of land without any shelter, exposing her to the cold winds and frequent heavy rainstorms. Her grazing was sparse and she was visibly frail.
Her owner eventually agreed to relinquish Caroline and she was transported to a local vet clinic for treatment and then onto a wonderful new home.
Soon after, a surprising discovery was made – Caroline was expecting a foal.
In October 2024, sweet Rinceoir – ‘dancer’ in Irish – arrived with a bounce in her step, but the arrival of a foal requires much more time and many more resources. As a result, the search was on to secure a forever home where both mother and daughter could thrive.
Our dedicated Welfare team successfully found a new home for Caroline and Rinceoir and they arrived in December 2024.
The Moorhead family, organic farmers in County Meath, were fully equipped with the necessary training and expertise.
Caroline has settled in beautifully into her new home. The serene and tranquil atmosphere has had an enormous positive impact on her wellbeing. And as for Rinceoir, she lives up to her name and is full of energy and zest.
