Supporting our Sanctuary for over two decades

Margaret O'Mullane holding mini marathon medal

Margaret O’Mullane has been a member of staff at The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland for over 23 years - but supporting donkeys is more than a day job. For over two decades, she has been taking part in the Cork mini-marathon, raising money in her spare time for the donkeys in the Sanctuary’s care.

Margaret said: “I love doing the mini-marathon - there’s always a tremendous buzz and sense of camaraderie on the day. I feel chuffed when fellow walkers spot our logo on the back of my T-shirt and say, ‘ahh look, The Donkey Sanctuary - they do great work!’. I’m proud to be part of the team and want to do my bit to contribute towards our worthy cause.

“As secretary to the Country Manager, I don’t work hands-on with the donkeys in my day job, but every day I’m still working towards the same objectives as my colleagues who don boots and jackets and brave the elements. We’re all here to improve donkey welfare in Ireland.”

This year Margaret raised €155, which will help provide the care our wonderful rescue donkeys deserve.

By giving up their spare time to fundraise for The Donkey Sanctuary, our champions are helping to keep our donkeys safe and warm this winter. With their help, we are improving the quality of life for donkeys in Ireland. If you’d like to support The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland this winter, we would welcome donations for our Winter Appeal. All donations go towards supporting all the donkeys in our care.
