The Donkey Sanctuary (Ireland) Ltd is a registered charity which has been protecting donkeys in Ireland for over 30 years. The charity has 4 farms and over 1800 donkeys in its care.
We are seeking a person with a passion for Donkeys to join our team covering our 4 busy farms. Possessing substantial equine and animal husbandry experience, you will provide care and rehabilitation for the resident donkeys and their environment, supporting the Farm Manager and Farm Supervisor on matters such as donkey health, feeding regimes, Health and Safety and land management, and liaising with other staff members to facilitate the efficient and safe running of the farm.
Experience and knowledge of using of all types of farm machinery and equipment, experience of fencing and maintenance of such, experience of land management processes and hay making will be required. Able to demonstrate excellent team-working and communication skills, you will effectively interact with colleagues. Acting as an ambassador for the charity by acquiring a good knowledge of The Donkey sanctuary and the work of the charity worldwide, you will positively engage with visitors and members of the public by providing appropriate and accurate information to enhance their visitor experience whilst at The Donkey Sanctuary. This rewarding role requires a person who can both work on their own initiative, and as part of a team. Excellent communication skills and a commitment to personal development are essential, as is a full driving licence.
This is a full-time, fixed term contract starting as soon as possible until 31 December 2019, working 39 hours per week, 5 days over 7, including weekend work as part of a rota.
