Emily Collins, Donkey Welfare Adviser, discovered OB living in filthy, welfare compromised conditions with other donkeys and many other animal species. As Emily worked with her welfare team colleagues to find homes for the donkeys, she kept returning to gentle OB.
Something about this charismatic old donkey with his crooked ear spoke to Emily. There and then a bond was formed between them. She knew the only place OB would be going was home with her.
Emily said: “I had already decided I would give OB a home, his gentle nature after a lifetime of pain shone through and his hooves still needed a lot of work.”
OB was brought to Emily’s home and he quickly settled in. She says: “Seeing OB enjoy his freedom in the paddock where he can roll, run or just choose to stand where he wants to makes me smile every day. He has the gentlest of souls and allows my young daughter to lead and groom him.”
