Education
We feel that it is vital to educate the public about donkey welfare, and the proper way to care for donkeys in order to help stop cruelty and neglect.
We welcome groups from schools, colleges and private groups to visit us at the Open Farm in Liscarroll where our staff can provide an educational talk about our work and how we care for our donkeys and mules. Visitors can experience first-hand how amazing donkeys are. After you have learned about the work of The Donkey Sanctuary, you will be free to stroll around our beautiful walkways and see more of our donkeys and mules.
We do not charge for our talks or group visits, but as we are a charity, all donations are gratefully received. There are donation points in the yards at the Open Farm and also in the Visitor Information Centre. To book a tour from Monday to Friday, please contact us on 022 48398. Please note that educational tours must be booked at least one month in advance.
Note: When you visit the Open Farm in Liscarroll, it's advisable to dress according to the weather. Sensible footwear should be worn at all times for accessing our grass walkways.
Fundraise for us
We encourage groups to undertake a fundraising activity to raise much needed funds. Groups that have fund-raised for our donkeys and then came to meet them and see exactly where the money goes really have a satisfying experience. If you would like to discuss any ideas for fundraising that you have, our Fundraising Team would be delighted to talk with you and provide support. Please call us on 022 48398 or contact us here. With your help, we can save more donkeys and mules from a life of cruelty and suffering.
