From the pound to precious pets
Posted on 2 November 2016.The winters can be harsh in the Dublin Mountains with early frosts, bone chilling rain and hillsides exposed to biting winds. Not an ideal location for two donkeys you might say- unless those donkeys happen to be under the guardianship of the Lemon family.
Clinton and Cobham have well and truly landed on their hooves with Matt and his family. They can enjoy all of the wonderful benefits of mountain life in their tranquil surroundings, safe in the knowledge that their cosy shelter is well stocked with hay and a warm bed of straw to snuggle into when the weather turns inclement. In fact, they are so relaxed and comfortable that it's sometimes difficult to persuade them to leave their cosy beds for daily health checks and grooming!
Matt is delighted with his new donkey friends and reports that he finds spending time in their company each day after work a very effective way to unwind and relax .In return Clinton and Cobham get to enjoy lots of lovely scratches and hugs. Clinton is no stranger to the Dublin hills having been picked up by the council as a stray wandering the bleak country lanes all alone. Thankfully The Donkey Sanctuary was in a position to save Clinton from the pound and once fully rehabilitated rehome him along with his new friend Cobham.
Clinton has found his way back home to the mountains but this time he is not alone and will never again have to endure the cold and loneliness he once did.
