Rehoming Success for Rosie and donkeys
Posted on 23 November 2015.Marie was rescued by one of our Donkey Welfare Adviser in 2012 as a weak baby foal. She was very neglected when she first came into our care and the veterinary and farm team dedicated great time and effort into building up her strength. She became friends with Asha and they were prepared to go out to a new home together.
Keen donkey lover and Sanctuary supporter Rosie visited us in Liscarroll and met her beautiful donkeys. Rosie has a stunning donkey called Mousie already and was keen to get more company after Mousie sadly lost her son.
In April Marie and Asha travelled to their new home in Leinster where they are loved and adored.
Rosie stated that:
"I'm delighted as they're all sharing the same area for sleeping and they're eating without squabbling - most of the time! Marie is very much the peacemaker, Asha is a little more shy with us but well able to stand her ground with her donkey friends and Mousie is getting used to the absence of her little son as well as sharing her home with her two new friends; she's become even more friendly with us since the others arrived. They all have different characters and are very time consuming; it's like having a constant cabaret, and we love them!"
Rehoming donkeys is a very rewarding thing to do and with the number of donkeys coming into our care on a dramatic increase we are desperately seeking more homes for our donkeys.
