Nollaig's happy ending
Posted on 21 December 2015.This day three years ago we received a call about a donkey in need and we went to investigate. We were horrified to see the conditions this donkey was in and the pain that he was in was heart-breaking. His hooves were so overgrown and painful he struggled to walk, he was suffering from rain scald (a painful skin condition) from being left out in the elements with no shelter and he was starving, dehydrated and lost all hope.
We quickly brought him into our care where his intensive treatment began. We called him Nollaig (meaning Christmas in Irish) and he was monitored closely by the Veterinary team, treated several times by the farrier and received sterling care. He slowly began to improve and get stronger and over the past three years he has transformed into an incredible character, full of love and life! Nollaig is now 16 years old and resides in our Open Farm in Knockardbane, Liscarroll where he loves to meet all of the visitors and may even give you a cheeky grin or stick out his tongue so next time you visit keep an eye out for him.
We were able to rescue and rehabilitate Nollaig because of the unwavering support that we get from our wonderful supporters. Remember when you donate to us that you are transforming the lives of innocent donkeys and we could not be more grateful.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy Christmas!
