We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible people with their own transport who are willing to give some quality time to our resident donkeys. Suitable applicants will receive training and be accredited to work in pairs on our farms in Ireland - the most suitable farm for each person will be selected by our experienced trainers.
Our quality time volunteers will be asked to interact with the donkeys, observing their behaviour and lead selected donkeys out for walks.
If you can spare a few hours once a week, or even once a month, your time is valuable and the donkeys will really appreciate the extra attention.
If you are interested and would like to find out more about this unique opportunity, please contact us.
Alternatively, please download our Application Form for Quality Time Volunteers and return to:
The Donkey Sanctuary (QTV Applications)
We are able to accept volunteers from the age of 16. For applicants aged between 16 and 17, we may need to ask a parent or guardian to join them as a QTV, until we are able to gauge the level of knowledge and skill. We do not want to put anyone at risk, so it is important that we are able to assess this before making a decision about whether someone needs to be accompanied. The reason for this is that young people vary widely in ability, knowledge and maturity. We are currently trialling the acceptance of young people who are aged 16 and 17 without a parent or guardian and we are assessing each application individually on the basis described above. Once the training day has been attended and assessment made we will then know whether or not a parent or guardian will need to volunteer also, so please bear this in mind. Please check our event calendar for training day dates.
