On Wednesday 23rd July, The Donkey Sanctuary will be holding a special 21st anniversary celebration at its centre in Liscarroll, County Cork, Ireland where thousands of donkeys have been rescued and rehabilitated.

The charity provides permanent sanctuary to donkeys in need of refuge and has an average of four donkeys arriving through its doors every week.

Cork NW 's TD Michael Moynihan and representatives from Ballyhoura Development Ltd will be attending the special event to celebrate the charity's milestone. Afternoon tea and refreshments will be served to special guests, followed by a tour of the Sanctuary by Paddy Barrett who has run the centre since it opened in 1987.

Paddy Barrett says: “The welfare of donkeys has improved gradually over the years. We have spent a great deal of time developing an education programme which I believe has helped the profile of donkeys in Ireland to improve considerably.

You can visit The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll 365 days of the year. Admission is free as the charity believes supporters should be able to see how their donations are being spent. For further information or to support the charity, please contact us.
