Little Aoife and Kate O’Connor visited The Donkey Sanctuary to meet with the colt foal they called Uncle Sam. You may remember, we ran a competition to name this little foal that was born on 4th July 2010.
The O’Connor children were the lucky participants whose chosen name was drawn and now this little fellow is getting to know his new name.
The children got a coloured photograph of Uncle Sam and a certificate stating that they named the foal. They were also shown around Hannigan’s Farm by our farm manager, Tim Daly, and the veterinary hospital which is not open to the general public.
Aoife and Kate have promised to keep in touch with Uncle Sam and The Donkey Sanctuary and hopefully as they and Uncle Sam grow they will get to know each other. The girls are looking forward to going back to school and telling all their friends about their time here at The Donkey Sanctuary.
