Relief for abandoned donkeys

Val on arrival

Thanks to the generous grant of €50,000 from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Minister Brendan Smith the Sanctuary can continue its work in educating and raising awareness amongst young people into the future.

Public Relations Manager, Paddy Barrett, has a full programme planned for 2010 which involves visiting schools and reaching out to as many young people as possible promoting better donkey welfare and a heightened respect for animals.

These funds will allow us to continue to provide essential information by means of talks, posters and leaflets to future donkey carers and enlist more helpers for our charitable work. The numbers of abandoned donkeys are on the increase all over the country and this grant will help enormously towards rescuing them and providing a home for them here at the Sanctuary.
