The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll is appealing for volunteers to run the Evening Echo’s Woman’s Mini Marathon in Cork, held on Sunday 27th September, to raise funds for its cause.
Paddy Barrett from the Sanctuary explains how sponsor monies can help make a difference: “The Donkey Sanctuary relies entirely on donations to care for neglected and unwanted donkeys, such as Sky, Lilly and Bart.
“These donkeys came into our care in November last year having been found abandoned in Co. Wexford. All three donkeys had overgrown hooves but our farrier has been able to treat their feet successfully. These donkeys will receive a lifetime of loving care and attention with us.
“We really do appreciate all the hard work and training that is involved in running the four miles in this event. The donations raised from taking part will be a huge benefit to donkeys like Sky, Lilly and Bart."
The mini marathon starts at Centre Park Road in Cork at 1pm and finishes at Kennedy Park.
