Education programme

School visit

The Donkey Sanctuary feels that it is vital to educate the public about donkey welfare, and the proper way to care for donkeys in order to help stop cruelty and neglect. In order to facilitate this, the Sanctuary has a dedicated team of staff that go out to schools, clubs and different groups throughout Ireland to talk to people about the Sanctuary and the work we do.

We are especially committed to educating children about donkey welfare and we are very grateful for the government grant we receive that assists us in our education programme for schools. We hope that by educating today's children and teaching respect for animals we will help improve conditions for donkeys in the future.

If you are interested in having a representative from the Sanctuary call out to your school or club, please contact us by email or contact our PR Manager Paddy Barrett 086/3895931.

Alternatively, you may wish to bring your class or group to the Sanctuary to see first hand the work we do and meet some of our resident donkeys. You may wish to bring wellingtons and warm clothes, if the weather is bad. If you are interested in bringing a group to the Sanctuary, please contact us.

We do not charge for our talks or group visits, but as we are a charity, any donation is gratefully accepted. Thank you.
